Award for Robot Psychologist Martina Mara

Intelligent machines will soon be a part of our everyday lives – but how do we interact with them? Robotics psychologist Martina Mara focuses on these questions and more.

The BAWAG P.S.K Women’s Award is accompanied with €3,000 in prize money and has been presented since 2013 to women in recognition of outstanding achievement and/or special commitment to positioning women in society. This year’s award was presented Univ. Prof. Martina Mara from the LIT Robopsychology Lab. The JKU researcher remarked, “I am often the only woman on discussion panels regarding robotics. I always point this out because we need more women in technology. I am honored to receive the BAWAG P.S.K. Women’s Award this evening for my work.”

Together with her team, Prof. Mara focuses on how people experience and interact with robots and Artificial Intelligence: “My research is about making people more comfortable with future technologies and incorporating psychological insights when developing robots.”
