Dean Pabel Chairs the “Expert Council for Integration”

Katharina Pabel (Faculty of Law, JKU) will succeed Ex-Chairman and Neo Minister Univ.Prof. Heinz Faßmann.

The Ministry is very pleased about the decision and Karin Kneissl, Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration, remarked: “I am delighted that Univ. Prof. Dr. Katharina Pabel, a competent and experienced academic, will chair the Expert Council for Integration, thus ensuring the continuity of academic support in the area of integration.”

The Expert Council, established by law, is an advisory body to support integration issues. The members come from various fields and have extensive expertise in the area of integration. Dean Pabel remarked, “I am happy that the Expert Council has every confidence in me. There is a lot of work to do in the area of integration and I aim to set new priorities.”

About Dean Pabel
Born in Bonn, German, Katharina Pabel is a legal scholar and expert who studied law in Germany and Austria. She was appointed as a professor for Civil Law at the JKU in 2010 and in 2015, she was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the JKU. Her academic interests include public law as well as national, European, and international human rights protection. She is also a member of the United Nations Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council.
