Information about the JKU Employee and Student Newsletters

Do you have information or a topic you would like to let JKU employees and/or students know about? Learn more about what you need to know in order to include your story or information in a JKU newsletter.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by sending an e-mail to: ma-newsletter(at)jku.at.

Employee Newsletter

In general, the employee newsletter is sent out every second Wednesday. However, on account of individual issues, the newsletter may be sent out on a later date or cancelled during the summer or over New Years.

The newsletter contains topics that are mainly of interest to a large segment of employees at the JKU.

Examples:

  • A farmer's market on campus
  • A new construction project
  • A Christmas party for general employees
  • The new work-from-home rules for academic employees

Content only interesting to a small percentage of employees is not considered suitable.

Examples:

  • Continual education classes for secretaries
  • Call for proposals for Computer Scientists
  • Programs that charge fees
  • Seminars and conferences

If you have a topic and not sure if it can be included in the newsletter, simply contact us by sending an e-mail to: ma-newsletter(at)jku.at. We will be happy to talk with you about it. Please note that in the end, the Department of University Communications will decide what is included in the newsletter.

If the topic is considered suitable for the newsletter, we ask that you send us:

  • Content information. Keywords (what, where, when) are sufficent.
  • A good, high picture that is a depiction of the content. For example, a photo of someone reading a book is more interesting than just a book cover.
  • Links to detailed information and in regard to events, a link where people can sign up to attend.

If the topic is acceptable and you have sent us all the corresponding information, a phot and the link(s), we will write the article. You will receive a draft in order to approve content. You can, of course, also send us a pre-written text. Please note, however, that the Department of University Communications is responsible for the editorial layout.

Once approved, the article will be translated and will appear in the upcoming employee newsletter.

We need to receive the content by Tuesday, 12:00 PM - before the expected date of publication - otherwise we cannot guarantee that the article can be included.

Yes, there is a German-to English translator on staff to translate the content. The JKU newsletter is sent out in both German and English.

Student Newsletter

Examples:

  • A new Master's degree program
