Post-Doctorate for Two JKU Researchers

Martina Schickmair (Institute for Civil Law) and Thomas Wolkerstorfer (Institute for Business Law) were presented with their habilitation venia docendi certificates.

Assoc. Professor Dr. Thomas Wolkerstorfer, LL.B.

Prof. Wolkerstorfer received his venia docendi in the academic subject areas of "business law" and "civil law". Wolkerstorfer earned his doctorate at the JKU in 2012 with an award-winning thesis on lien and corporate law. He has been an assistant professor at the Institute for Business Law since 2015. A part of his post-doctorate thesis focused on the inheritance of GmbH shares and innovations introduced by ErbRÄG 2015. In addition to general civil and business law, his current research areas include intellectual property (IP) and securities law.

Assoc. Univ. Prof. Mag. Dr. Martina Schickmair

Prof. Schickmair received her venia docendi in the academic subject area of "Civil Law". Schickmair studied law at the JKU and earned a post-doctorate on the subject of "Obligation to Contract". Before that, she was a university assistant and assistant professor at the JKU. She passed the bar exam in 2010 with top marks and the judge's office exam in 2013 with good results. Her research interests include debt, property and tort law. She was presented with the Austrian Environmental and Technical Law Award as well as the Cardinal Innitzer Award for her dissertation titled "Gefährdungshaftung im Nachbarrecht".
