The new, eagerly awaited concept behind the controversial Dollfuß Museum in Texingtal, Lower Austria, was presented by the curatorial team at a press conference in Vienna on October 20, 2023. The concept entitled "Raum Schaffen" takes a radical approach: the memorial site disguised as a 'museum' in Engelbert Dollfuß’ birth place (the architect of the Austrofascist dictatorship "Ständestaat" between 1934 and 1938), is to be "de-collectivized". The exhibits will gradually be removed and transferred to other museums and collections.

The local population will take part in the process, which will also be documented on a website in detail for the wider public. This participatory approach of a more reflexive "public history" is to be carried out over the next five years. The mayor of Texingtal and the scholarly advisory board, including Ernst Langthaler (Institute for Social and Economic History at the JKU Linz), will support this innovative concept.
